Equipment used by RPI manages to be quite technical at times. We have a lot of things ranging from video, audio, photographic and software which we use.
EMF Gauges

What is EMF? EMF is Electro Magnetic Field. In everywhere we live, on this planet, there are EMF frequencies, naturally occurring. Sometimes they are higher in areas of concentrated metal, however they are much higher where electronic equipment leave open trails of electricity or where objects are being used, or housed. Often, a light socket can emit a high frequency.

Various types of EMF Gauges are used to detect ELF and EMF electromagnetic fluctuations. They say, as a spirit manifests, it takes and draws energy from its surroundings, sometimes draining batteries and effecting temperature and EMF in the area.

Laser Thermometer

A laser thermometer can really help determine if an area has raised or lowered in degrees, both in F and Celsius.

They are pin-point because lasers are so precise, and can test air within a six inch radius of the point of light.

Often, when a spirit tries to manifest, temperature will fluctuate.

Video Cameras

Video Cameras, with infrared technology are used to monitor rooms. They are either wired or wireless, hooked up to a portable computer, and are able to see in total darkness. This gives us an opportunity to turn off the lights and to use surveillance system software to see if anything is moving, and to record it directly to the computer.

Video Camcorders

Infrared camcorders, usually by Sony, with zero LUX capabilities are used to tape investigations. They are either sat stable in one position monitoring rooms, or they are taken by members around in different quadrants to record video footage of the investigation, capture audio and hopefully to see things that we cannot see with the human eye.

Infrared Technology

Many of our equipment items use the infrared technology (IR) and what it does is to block all spectrums of light, except the infrared light, which is why it goes to either a black and white or greenish tint when played back, if a recording has been done in the darkness.

Some still photographs, using infrared technology, both in daylight and nighttime are giving some of the best known evidence of entities throughout the world. We are now able to capture so much more with this type of technology.

Digital Cameras

Digital cameras, of good/high quality, are used during an investigation, as well as pocket name brands with good-sized megapixel capabilities (and internal interpolation software).

We use these cameras to try to capture things along the investigation, and investigators often capture strange anomalies with the cameras, that were not seen in the total darkness.

Digital Audio Recorders

Digital audio recorders (again, mostly Sony) are a great, reliable way to catch audio both as a stand-still device and while doing investigations, and being held by investigators.

We use several free audio software to take apart the audio and to enhance sounds formerly unheard by team members, or sometimes heard as well as recorded, and allowing us to play them back so we can listen to them time and time again.

Compass

A compass may pick up electromagnetic fluctuations, and the dial may begin spinning or pointing in a wrong direction when an entity manifests.

Headlamps

Various headlamps are attached to our heads during an investigation to help us see in darkness while still having use of our hands. We are careful not to blind team members with them, while they are in use, but we also have a lot of fun using them, as you can see in this photo.

Flashlights with LED and Red lens

Red lens, first off, causes less bright light to be seen in the dark and it makes it simpler for the human eye to focus in the dark.

LED flashlights are bright and tend to last a long time and to run on less energy.

Tripods, extra IR lights, IR boxes, etc.

A lot of other small equipment gets used, as well as objects such as "enticements" (objects from the real world a dead person may miss, such as alcohol, tobacco, money, bright things, jewelry), and tracing paper with an object on top of it (object gets traces and we put a camera on it to see if it moves, and we do ask that it be moved prior to recording), a Ghost Box (a nifty toy developed which randomly scans radio channels...we cannot advocate whether it works or not and preliminary findings are that it doesn't do anything at all), and a jar with a bell in it (which we ask spirits to ring).

Mouse Traps are often used to ask an entity to set them off as well, and sometimes someone comes in with something new almost monthly, and we give it a whirl.
